Derval wins silver in Gothenburg
Derval O’Rourke clinched silver in the 100 metres hurdles at the European Championships in Gothenburg tonight in an Irish record time of 12.72 seconds.
O’Rourke, whose summer season has been interrupted by injury problems, finished behind Sweden’s Susanna Kallur (12.59), with Kirsten Bolm third.
And yet O’Rourke – winner of the world indoor 60m title earlier this year - had to sweat it out for five minutes before she was given the decision ahead of the German, who shared the same time.
