UCC clinch win after nail-biting finish

UCC Demons continued their recent good form with a narrow victory against DART Killester tonight.
DART Killester were strong from the offset and went into a 10-point lead in the first quarter. The home team maintained this advantage throughout the first half with UCC Demons managing to cut the gap to five points at the half time break, 55-50.
Killester maintained their lead in the third, with Bana Tomic was unstoppable inside and dominated the scoring stakes for the home team. At the end of the third, Demons closed to gap to a three point margin.
In the fourth, due to several turnovers by the home team, Demons levelled the game for the first time.
The visitors then went on to take the lead by six points with three minutes to go, thanks to big shots from Niall O’Reilly and inside play by James Whyte.
Tomic was fouled out with two minutes remaining but the DART’s soon levelled the game once more.
With 24 seconds left in the game they score was 91-91. Shane Coughlan went to the line to shoot two and made one to put them ahead by one point, 91-92.
In the dieing seconds Killester failed to capitalise on possession to score before the buzzer went, much to relief of the students.
