O’Sullivan selected for Aussie Commonwealth Games team
Sonia O'Sullivan has secured a place in the Australian team for next month's Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
The 36-year-old Cobh woman has been selected to contest the 5,000m event after securing Australian citizenship two weeks ago.
O'Sullivan applied for Australian nationality so she could compete in the games because Ireland is not a member of the Commonwealth.
She still intends to compete for Ireland in the European Championships later this year.
