Walkinshaw makes motorsport return

Former Arrows owner Tom Walkinshaw will make his return to international motorsport in the world rally championship this year.

Walkinshaw has concentrated on his ownership of Gloucester Rugby Club and an Australian venture in the aftermath of Arrows' inglorious end in 2002.

But he today announced his arrival back on the international scene at the Autosport Show in Birmingham.

Walkinshaw’s latest company has secured a deal to provide Mitsubishi cars and components to privateer rally entrants.

He said: “Our aim is to provide unique, high-quality, high-performance cars, components and service to a customer base that knows no boundaries. It is an exciting prospect for us as a new company.”

Mitsubishi recently announced the end of their works involvement in world rallying, but Walkinshaw’s company offers independent entries the back-up needed to compete in the championship.
