Former World Championship semi-finalist Tony Knowles set off on the long road to the Crucible with victory in the first qualifying round in Prestatyn today.

Knowles, who featured in the semi-finals of the game’s top event in 1983, 1985 and 1986, defeated Southport’s Les Dodd 5-2.
