Duddy remains unbeaten

Derryman John Duddy maintained his unbeaten pro record overnight in Florida, earning a third round TKO win over Domincian Southpaw Wilmer Mejia.

The rock-solid Duddy tallied up his 13th KO and 14th career win since September 2003 with considerable ease at the Hard Rock Live Arena in Hollywood, Florida.

The 26-year-old Irishman forced Mejia, a late replacement for his countryman Emiliano Cayetano, to quit at the end of the third round with a broken hand.

It was the 23-year-old Mejia's fifth defeat of a 22-fight run.

Duddy's win, witnessed by 150 supporters from his US base of New York, keeps him on course for a lucrative Madison Square Garden date in March.

Duddy's promoter Eddie McLoughlin is already looking at top-drawer opponents for his charge, with Mexico's former world champion Yori Boy Campas top of the list.
