Ajigolo heads Reef hopefuls

Ajigolo will bid to follow up his recent German Group Two success when facing 12 rivals in the Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury tomorrow.

The Piccolo colt will be saddled with a 5lb penalty for his victory in the Maurice Lacroix-Trophy at Baden-Baden but Mick Channon feels his charge has progressed since his win two weeks ago.

“I am particularly pleased with the way Ajigolo has progressed since his win in Germany. I think he is a good horse,” said Channon, who will also be represented by Woodcote Stakes winner BA Foxtrot.

“BA Foxtrot hasn’t done much wrong and shouldn’t be underestimated either,” he added.

Gimcrack fifth Sir Xaar followed up his York run with a Listed success at Ripon and will take his chance along with stablemate and last Saturday’s Doncaster winner Misu Bond.

John Gosden’s Racer Forever bolted up at Salisbury last month and has been declared along with Sirenia Stakes third Art Market and Richard Hannon’s pair Cool Creek and Hot.
