Ireland’s biggest anti-racism sports event — The SARI Intercultural Soccerfest — takes place this weekend at the Phoenix Park, Dublin.
More than 300 youngsters representing 17 countries will compete for the SARI Cup and Plate at the event. 48 multi-cultural teams from around Ireland, including defending champions Fatima United, will be participating.
The free event, which runs from 10am to 6pm on both Saturday and Sunday, will also include an over-40s cricket tournament, a Chinese festival and a world music stage featuring DJs and singers from around the world playing salsa, reggae, merengue and R’n’B.
“SARI, in partnership with UEFA/FARE (Football Against Racism Europe) and Kick it Out UK, are committed to levelling the playing field for people from different cultures through soccer,” said Frank Buckley, Director of SARI. “We encourage all communities to participate in this event.”
