Williams to use Cosworth engines
Williams have confirmed they will use Cosworth engines next season, ending their links with BMW.
The Grove-based team will be reunited with the engine builder, who powered them to four world titles in the early 1980s during their last stint together, for 2006 to establish Formula One’s only all-British entrant.
Williams were left on the look-out for an engine deal after BMW effectively cut their links by buying the Sauber team.
Today’s announcement of a Cosworth link-up has been expected for some weeks, with speculation suggesting a Toyota deal could follow for 2007.
