Paula Radcliffe admits nothing can ever compensate for last year’s Olympic misery but believes the strength she has subsequently acquired will serve her well at the forthcoming World Championships in Helsinki.

The 31-year-old dropped out of the 10,000m days after failing to finish the marathon at last summer’s Athens Games but has again chosen to potentially double up at the event which starts next week in the Finnish capital.
