Rain delays action at Wimbledon

Rain delayed the start of play in the women’s semi-finals at Wimbledon today.

Light drizzle meant the covers remained on Centre Court after the scheduled 1pm start time, with further rain forecast throughout the day.

Number one seed Lindsay Davenport was due to face third seed Amelie Mauresmo in the first match, with defending champion Maria Sharapova taking on Venus Williams in the second semi on the same court.
