MacHale second in Scottish Rally

Irish crew, Austin MacHale/Brian Murphy (Ford Focus WRC) finished second in the Scottish Rally, some, two minutes and 10.6 seconds behind the Ford Focus of Mark Higgins/Bryan Thomas.

Irish crew, Austin MacHale/Brian Murphy (Ford Focus WRC) finished second in the Scottish Rally, some, two minutes and 10.6 seconds behind the Ford Focus of Mark Higgins/Bryan Thomas.

The result sees MacHale extend his lead in the Kwik-Fit Pirelli British Rally Championship.

Welsh driver, Seb Ling co-driven by Cork’s, David Moynihan in a Hyundai Accent WRC, secured third place on the final stages. Ling is second to MacHale in the series.

Meath’s, Rory Galligan in a Mitsubishi, was fifth overall and won the Production category while young Cork driver, Brian O’Mahony, in a Ford Puma, achieved a personal best in an International Rally, he was sixth overall and won the Super 1600 category.

Other Irish finishers included Brendan Kelly, who brought his Mitsubishi home in eleventh place.

Earlier today, Gareth MacHale/Paul Nagle crashed their Toyota Corolla WRC out of the rally.

While MacHale leads the overall series, Galligan moves up to second in the Production Cup and O’Mahony heads the Super 1600 category by 18 points.
