Montgomery planning to race in Europe

Tim Montgomery is set to race in Europe shortly before he is due to appear before the Court for Arbitration in Sport for a hearing into alleged drugs offences.

Montgomery’s partner, former triple Olympic champion Marion Jones, made the announcement in Milan this afternoon before confirming she will compete over 100 metres at the Italian Grand Prix meeting on Wednesday.

“Tim is at home training,” said Jones, when asked how the world 100m record holder is coping with the possibility of a lifetime ban should the CAS rule against him in San Francisco on June 6.

Jones then revealed: “I don’t announce other promoter’s meets, but you’ll see him over the next week or so. He’s excited to be competing.”
