Trulli has tough time on street circuit

Jarno Trulli is dreaming of a repeat of his 2004 Monaco Grand Prix victory despite a difficult return today.

The Italian won his first grand prix on the Principality streets 12 months ago and now he aims to give Toyota their maiden win at Formula One’s most glamorous destination.

Trulli’s win was Renault’s first and only triumph last season and capped a stunning weekend for the Italian. Now he hopes to repeat that form in Toyota colours.

Trulli, who has already given Toyota their first-ever Formula One podium this season, said: “It is a great feeling but now it is one year later and I am back to try to repeat this fantastic result.

“It is not going to be easy, it is going to be a tough weekend for everyone because we know Monaco is a tough grand prix.”

But Trulli’s optimism was overshadowed by practice problems today as he struggled to find grip around the tight and twisty streets.

He was 13th in both one-hour sessions today and confessed he found the going tough after struggling with the set-up of his car.

“It was a bit of a difficult day because I tried different set-ups in tyres but I think I didn’t get it right,” he added.
