Ireland's boys and girls representative basketball squads finished an intense week-long competition at the World School Basketball Championship in Wroclaw, Poland by finishing 17th out of 24 and 11th out of 24 respectively on Saturday.

The Irish boys, represented by St. Fintan's Sutton, came out of the elimination rounds undefeated, but could not place higher than 17th because of their qualifying round results.

The Holy Faith Clontarf Dublin school team who represented the Irish girls at the Championship lost to France in the final game, 41-62, to finish in 11th place.

The International School Sports Federation announced at the end of the tournament their Fair Play Trophy would be awarded to Team Ireland.
