World championship leader Fernando Alonso brushed off the threat of Ferrari’s new car after leaving it trailing in the Bahrain desert today, claiming it appears little better than its predecessor.

Alonso set the second fastest time in practice for the Bahrain Grand Prix at Sakhir today, beaten only by McLaren’s Alex Wurz, who as a test driver has no engines restrictions.
