Ireland's Alistair Cragg (seven minutes 54.91 seconds) has qualified easily for the European Indoor Championships 3000metres final tomorrow evening in Madrid.

Ireland will have two athletes in the final after former champion Mark Carroll finished fourth.

Somalian-born Briton Mohamed Farah (7mins 54.99secs) was second on his senior international track debut.

John Mayock, the champion seven years ago in Valencia, also easily made the cut when finishing runner-up in his heat in 7:54.83.
