Ronnie O’Sullivan and Stephen Hendry were locked together at 4-4 going into the closing session of a gripping Welsh Open final at Newport today.

Snooker’s most intense rivals were each left needing five of the remaining nine frames to triumph in the first world-ranking tournament of the year and collect the £35,000 (€50,400) first prize.
