Ireland's cricketers to face English County champions
As part of the Ireland team’s preparation for the ICC Trophy in July next year the Irish Cricket Union have secured a fixture against the current English County Champions Warwickshire CCC.
The match will be played at the Test Ground in Edgbaston, on Sunday 24, April 2005.
In discussions with Warwickshire the Irish Cricket Union’s Chief Executive, Peter Thompson, has confirmed that Warwickshire will put a team out containing first eleven players and players on the verge of selection.
National Coach, Adrian Birrell said: “We are looking forward to playing Warwickshire and are sure that the match will provide the Irish team a tough test which will in the long term assist the team when it comes to the ICC Trophy and securing one of the five qualifying spaces for the 2007 Cricket World Cup.”
