Villeneuve tops in Jerez testing

Former world champion Jacques Villeneuve led the way in testing at Jerez today.

The Canadian continued to impress for new team Sauber and outpaced the Ferrari duo of Luca Badoer and Marc Gene by almost a second. Toyota’s Ralf Schumacher and the Renault of Giancarlo Fisichella completed the top five.

British youngster James Rossiter performed admirably on his Formula One debut, taking his BAR to 10th fastest.

That put him ahead of fellow British Formula Three racer Adam Carroll, who ended the day 15th.
