Moroccan middle-distance star Hicham El Guerrouj has announced he plans to retire in 2006.

The 30-year-old double Olympic champion, who took gold in both the 1500 and 5000 metres events at the Athens Games, is targeting the world 5000m record before he finally hangs up his running shoes.
