Cuban ends Khan's gold dreams

Teenage star Amir Khan today failed in his bid to become the youngest British boxer to win an Olympic gold as defending champion Mario Kindelan proved once again he is the world’s top lightweight.

The 17-year-old, who lost to the Cuban in a pre-Olympic test competition earlier this year, tried to take the fight to his opponent throughout a high-quality encounter.

But Kindelan was just too slick with his counter-punches and the 33-year-old, who plans to retire after these Games, secured a 30-22 success.
