Liu Xiang of China equalled Colin Jackson’s 11-year-old world record by clocking 12.91 seconds to power to Olympic gold in the 110metres hurdles.

The 21-year-old was unflustered after a false start by American Terrence Trammell and made a brilliant start to the race, pulling three metres clear of the field by the finish line.
