Swede sets mark in high jump competition

Day three of the athletics in the Olympic Stadium got under way on another warm evening when the men’s high jump final started the proceedings.

Stefan Holm, the Swede who switched from football to high-jumping after being inspired by Swedish legend Patrick Sjoberg, was the man to beat, with a season’s best of 2.37metres which made him clear of the rest of the field.

It is a great night for sprinting and the highlight will be the men’s 100m final.
