Eight wicket defeat ends Irish dreams

Scotland got exactly the victory they needed to defeat Ireland in the final European group stage of the ICC Intercontinental Cup today in Clontarf, robbing the home side of a place in the November play-offs in Dubai.

Ireland began the three-day international on 30 points, with Scotland on 17.5, but with fourteen points for a victory and 22 bonus ones available, the visitors were just too good.
