Boxer Lee pulls no punches in medal hunt
Athens-bound boxer Andy Lee has vowed to do everything in his power to land a medal at next month’s Olympics.
Speaking at last night’s Olympic going away party in Co Limerick, the southpaw told the he wanted to win a historic 10th medal for Ireland at the games.
“I will return to Bugeat in France for our final training camp on Saturday and from there on in there’s no turning back and we will travel to the Olympic village on August 10.
“I am under no illusion as to how tough it will be to win a medal at the Games, but thanks to everything I have learned with St Francis and the IABA down through the years I will be confident.
“Ireland has won one gold, three silver, and five bronze medals since 1952, and I will be doing all I can to add to that in Athens,” Lee added.
