Alonso on a loser

Fernando Alonso will lose 10 grid positions after qualifying today for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone following an engine failure in fourth practice this morning.

Alonso, currently fifth in the drivers’ championship with 33 points, will continue to use his race car, but with the engine transferred from the spare car.

Alonso becomes the second driver to suffer an engine failure this weekend, with the Sauber of Giancarlo Fisichella also to be demoted 10 places down the grid following his problems in practice yesterday.
