Brizzel boosts Ireland
National sprint record-holder Paul Brizzel will lead Ireland’s challenge in this weekend’s Spar European Cup fixture in Reykjavik, Iceland.
Brizzel, the country’s fastest-ever 100 and 200 metres performer, joins what looks like being a tough battle for honours in the Second League, Group A final.
There have been six enforced changes to the Irish men’s team which a year ago finished third behind Swedish and Austria who both earned promotion.
The women’s team sees Roisin McGettigan (3,000m), Pauline Curley (5,000m) and Fionnuala Britton (3,000m) steeplechase included for their match at the same venue.
