Brake tests give Webber confidence

Mark Webber believes the performance of the brakes on his Jaguar Racing car will be critical if he is to score points in Sunday’s Formula One Canadian Grand Prix.

Webber thinks Montreal will provide him with a good chance to score points for a third time this season.

“We have been testing in Silverstone [last week] and we were working on brakes so I am confident that the team have pulled together a good package,” Webber told www.autosport.com.

“We also spent time working on additional developments as these tests are really the best opportunity to see how everything works on the car for me as the driver.

“I now go to Montreal very motivated and with the goal of adding more points to our tally of three so far.”

Jaguar’s Mark Gillan, head of vehicle performance, said: “The track is very hard on the brakes and cars regularly lose their brakes altogether.

“We are confident in this specific area as we have spent much time monitoring wear and optimising cooling and the results are encouraging.”
