Europe dominates Olympics 2012 shortlist

European destinations dominate a shortlist for bids to host the 2012 Olympics.

London, Paris, New York, Madrid and Moscow have made the cut in the list.

Four cities failed to impress in the International Olympic Committee’s executive board sufficiently and will not be candidates for 2012. They were: Rio de Janeiro, Havana, Istanbul and Leipzig.

The announcement was made by the IOC in Lausanne, Switzerland, today.
