Lewis gets in tune for Athens

Olympic champion Denise Lewis returns to her home track when she competes in the Norwich Union international in Birmingham on July 25.

Lewis will take part in a specially-arranged multi-event challenge at the Birmingham Alexander Stadium ahead of the Olympic Games in Athens later this year.

UK Athletics will put together a high-class field to challenge the 31-year-old over three disciplines – the 100m hurdles, high jump and javelin.

Lewis said: “The fact that UKA is arranging a three-event challenge to aid my preparations so close to the Olympics is ideal. The Norwich Union international is a prestigious event and it makes it even more special for me to be competing in front of my home crowd in Birmingham.

“The Birmingham Alexander Stadium holds a special place in my heart and I know the encouragement I’ll get from the supporters in Birmingham on July 25 will give me a fantastic lift so close to Athens.“
