The Ulsterman’s leg was broken in two places when he was dragged from his car by a gang of men and attacked with wooden bats.

He also suffered a puncture lung during the attack, which happened on Black’s Road last Sunday.

The 32-year-old was due to fight Sharma Mitchell for the WBA title next month, but he said yesterday that he would not box again.
