Fanny Blankers-Koen dies, aged 85

Tributes have been paid to Holland’s Fanny Blankers-Koen, regarded as the greatest female athlete of the 20th century, after her death today at the age of 85.

The ‘Flying Housewife’ will be remembered for winning four gold medals at the London Olympics in 1948 after successes in 80m hurdles, 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay.
