Ireland suffer a second defeat

Ireland’s women have lost their three-match series against the USA after a 4-1 defeat in California gave the hosts an unassailable lead with one game to play.

Having gone down 1-0 to a last-minute goal in the opening match, Ireland took the lead in the second Test after captain Lynsey McVicker, of Ballymoney, was brought down by goalkeeper Peggy Storrar in the 10th minute and Loreto’s Nicky Symmons converted the penalty stroke.
