Ecclestone backs Bahrain

Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone has given his seal of approval to Bahrain’s new grand prix circuit.

The Englishman visited the United Arab Emirates to inspect the new Bahrain International Circuit, which will host its first grand prix next April.

Ecclestone, a vocal critic of the facilities in other parts of the Formula One world, was delighted with what he saw in Bahrain.

He said: “It’s super, Bahrain International Circuit will be one of the best in the world. The standard is so high it’s raised the bar so much. I’m very impressed and I’m very happy with it.

“It will be a great event. If I wasn’t directly involved in Formula One myself I’d be buying a ticket before they sell out.”
