Medina dismisses Harrison challenge

Mexican WBO featherweight champion Manuel Medina has dismissed Scott Harrison’s chances of regaining his crown at Braehead Arena on November 29.

The Cambuslang fighter is aiming to take advantage of his re-match with the South American later this month after Medina scored a points win in July.

Now the current champion insists he is relishing the opportunity to repeat the result again.

Medina said: “That was one of the easiest nights of my career so I jumped at the chance of going back to Scotland to fight him again.

“I have seen and faced everything in this business and I know that Harrison will be out for revenge but it will only end in heartbreak for him again.

“What can Harrison do different this time? I have seen everything I needed to see of him from the first fight and I know that this time I can knock him out.

“Harrison is strong as a bull but, when you are operating at the highest level like I have for the past 13 years, you need to have a boxing brain to out-think your opponent.”

Five-times world champion Medina has expressed surprise that Harrison is so eager to enter the ring with the Mexican.

He added: “I am surprised but very happy that Harrison has decided to fight me again.

“I thought that he would want a good rest and a warm-up fight before he would want to tackle me again.

“I told everyone last time that I would beat him and that it would be like taking sweets from a boy – but no-one listened.

“This time I have a warning for him: ‘Lightning will strike twice and the thunder will knock you out’.”
