A Kenyan man has won the 24th Adidas Dublin City Marathon.

Onesmus Kilonzo broke the finish line at a winning time of 2 hours, 17 minutes and 4 seconds. It is the Kenyan’s first ever win, finishing 25 seconds clear of Lezan Kimutai.

David Kosgei came in a close third to make it a Kenyan clean sweep of the medals.

Former winner, Simon Pride of Scotland, was fifth with Gary Crossan claiming the Irish national marathon title by coming in sixth.

Meanwhile, Kenyan Ruth Kutol has broken a record at today’s race by finishing under two and a half hours. She came in with a winning time of 2 hours, 27 minutes and 22 seconds.

Many more of the 8,000 entrants are continuing to battle the 26-mile course this afternoon.
