BAR plan tyre switch

Jenson Button’s BAR team want to switch tyre suppliers next year from Bridgestone to Michelin.

The French company look set to agree as Formula One regulations stipulate that tyre manufacturers must be prepared to supply up to 60 percent of the grid.

“It is very satisfying for us to see that by asking to use our tyres in 2004, BAR is counting on us to help the team reach the objectives it has set itself for the coming season,” said chief executive officer Edouard Michelin.

Michelin current supply five of the 10 teams in Williams, McLaren, Renault, Jaguar and Toyota.
