O'Sullivan wins Great Ireland Run
Sonia O’Sullivan won the Great BUPA Ireland Run in Dublin, covering the 10km in 32 minutes 24 seconds.
On a tough course in Phoenix Park, the Olympic 5,000 metres silver medallist hit the front before the 2km mark, finishing off Irish colleague Catherina McKiernan who was 40 seconds behind her.
Third place went to European junior cross country champion Charlotte Dale who, against strong senior opposition, clocked 33mins 23secs.
In the men’s race last year’s World Cup 3,000m champion Craig Mottram was also an impressive winner in 28mins 36secs.
The Australian broke away early in the race to clinch victory well clear of John Mayock.
Mayock, top middle distance winner over the last decade, recorded 29mins 7secs.
Seamus Power was the top Irishman home, finishing third in 29mins 27secs.
