Williams fears Suzuka final test

Frank Williams has sounded a note of caution as his lead driver Juan Pablo Montoya prepares for the three most crucial races of the season.

Montoya is just a point adrift of championship leader Michael Schumacher going into the last three grands prix of the season but team boss Williams is concerned about the last race of the campaign.

Williams is worried his team will be outclassed by title rivals Ferrari at Suzuka in Japan, which looks like hosting a three-way title clash between Schumacher, Montoya and McLaren’s Kimi Raikkonen.

He said: “Unless we can make a significant improvement, then the only place where I’d have to say we could struggle is at Suzuka.”

BMW motorsport chief Mario Theissen added: “Suzuka has been suiting Ferrari best in the past. Now we have to wait to see how fast Ferrari will recover.”
