Keohane to start F3000 on seventh row
Cork driver Michael Keohane will start tomorrow's seventh round of the F3000 Championship at
Silverstone from the seventh row of the grid.
The 23-year-old spun early in the session but it mattered little as weather conditions improved and all cars pitted for a change to slicks.
Keohane was making steady progress but appeared to be chopped by Austrian, Patrick Friesacher in an incident that damaged the front wing of his Astromega car.
He pitted for a new front wing and picked up one place on the grid.
Keohane is only the second Republic of Ireland driver to race in Formula 3000.
Championship leader, Sweden's Bjorn Wirdheim, is on pole from Italian Giorgio Pantano.
The experienced Ricardo Sperafico (Brazil) qualified on the second row.
