Former double RT2000 Irish champion, Jonathan Fildes, in his first full season of racing in Britain, won the seventh round of the Elf Clio Renaultsport Championship at Croft where fellow Irishman, Eoin

Murray, was third.

Fildes started from sixth and made rapid progress though the pack and with three laps remaining, went past Oli Wilkinson to take the chequered flag.

Murray, who was second for most of the race had to withstand pressure from championship leader Danny Buxton before clinching the final place on the podium.

In the BTCC Sprint race, Northern Ireland’s, Colin Turkington (MG ZR) was fourth in a race won by Matt Neal (Honda) from James Thompson (Astra).

In Oulton Park, Portadown’s, Adam Carroll racing with Menu Motorsport, finished third in today’s first

Formula 3 race of the British Championship.

Championship leader, Alan van der Merwe of South African won ahead of Danny Watts.

In Sligo, Early leader Glen Allen was joined at the top of the leaderboard after four stages by Steve Fleck (Subaru WRC) with Steve Hendy (Escort Cosworth) a further four seconds behind. Ivan Stewart is next with Alan Nesbitt (Toyota Celica) fifth.

In Mondello, Pat Donegan won the first of the Dunlop Supercars races from Brendan Donegan with Rod McGovern third.
