She took silver in the 5,000m walk in Sherbroke, Canada in a personal best time of 23.37.00.

Loughnane, from Loughrea - whose sister Olive competed in the Sydney Olympics and has qualified to represent Ireland in next month's World Championships in Paris - becomes only the third Irish woman to win an individual medal at world level behind Sonia O'Sullivan and Catherina McKiernan.
