Stars raise €100,000 for Gary Kelly charity
The Co Louth Golf Club at Baltray was host to an array of stars from the sport and entertainment world today where they took part in a Celebrity Golf Classic in aid of the Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre based in Drogheda.
In excess of €100,000 was raised at this golf event which drew stars like ex-Ireland Internationals Steve Staunton and Ray Houghton, rugby legend Mick Galwey and entertainers Finbarr Furey and Ronnie Drew.
Gary’s Leeds United teammates Michael Bridges and Seth Johnson were also present.
A fantastic day was had by all and Gary and his committee expressed their delight in the success of the event.
“My sincere gratitude goes to all the teams and indeed our many friends from the sporting and entertainment world who have given us their time to make this day such a success”, he said.
Aprés Match star Barry Murphy succeeded be a hit on the course when he got a hole in one, much to the delight of all those in attendance.
The Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre was purchased this year through funds raised from Gary’s charity game and donations received from the local community.
Funds raised through today’s event will be a great boost to the centre based in George’s Street.
