Marcus Gronholm was forced to retire from the Cyprus Rally today after the overnight leader’s Peugeot suffered a drive-shaft problem.

The Finn’s car sustained the debilitating problem during the first stage of the day – the fifth stage of the rally – and quit the event when it became apparent during the next stage that he would not be able to continue.
