40,000 take part in mini-marathon

Up to 40,000 women are taking part in this year's Ladies' Mini Marathon in Dublin.

The event kicked off at Lower Mount Street at 3pm.

They will pass through Ballsbridge and Stillorgan and finish up at St Stephen's Green.

Two of Ireland's premier athletes - Sonia O'Sullivan and Caterina McKiernan - are expected to finish up at around 3.40pm.
