SARS forces China out of race walk

The grand prix of race walking in Leamington at the weekend fell foul of the SARS epidemic with the withdrawal of the Chinese teams.

Their world-class men and women walkers who were expected to turn out in the European Athletic Association’s permit meeting, unsurprisingly made a last-minute decision not to make the trip.
