Kato loses fight for life
Former 250cc world motorcycle racing champion Daijiro Kato has lost his battle for life following an horrific crash during the Japanese GP.
Kato died in a Tokyo hospital today after failing to recover from injuries he suffered during the crash in the Japanese GP at Suzuka on April 6.
The 26-year-old Telefonica Movistar Honda rider suffered serious injuries to the head, chest and neck.
Kato, world champion in 2001, leaves a wife and two children.
