Schumachers' mother in coma

The mother of Formula One drivers Michael and Ralf Schumacher is in a coma in hospital after suffering a fall, according to reports in Germany.

Fifty-five year-old Elisabeth fell at home last Saturday and had to undergo and emergency operation in Cologne.

German newspaper Bild Zeitung quotes Ralf Schumacher as saying: “Her condition is certainly stable, but we’re still very worried about her.”

The brothers are currently in Imola preparing for tomorrow’s San Marino Grand Prix and BMW-Williams driver Ralf added: “Of course, in the circumstances we’ve been wondering if we should be racing at all, but we are in permanent contact with the doctors.”
