McKinstry consolidates West Cork Rally lead
Over this morning’s first two stages of the second day in the Quality Hotels West Cork Rally in Clonakilty, Kenny McKinstry has consolidated his lead position.
His main rival, Michael Barrable has dropped down to fifth after incurring a 45 second penalty when he arrived three minutes late after his Subaru WRC had starting difficulties.
McKinstry was quickest through the stage and Eamonn Boland was fastest on Stage 10.
McKinstry, who has never won this rally is now some 23 seconds ahead of Boland with Mel Evans another eight seconds adrift in third.
Liam McCarthy (Toyota Corolla) heads the local challenge, he’s fourth from the unlucky Barrable.
Donal O’Donovan (Toyota Celica), in the top ten overnight withdrew as co-driver, Pat Lordan felt
unwell.
Denis Cronin (BMW) was another non-starter this morning.
Kieran O’Callaghan (Mitsubishi) leads Group N.
